References to Khalistan, or a separate Sikh nation, will no longer be a part of the political science textbook for Class 12 students of the CBSE. The portions have been removed following objections from a top Sikh body that had flagged "objectionable content against Sikh community". An expert committee was constituted to look into the complaint, and the decision has been taken on their recommendation, NCERT said. "From the last sentence of the third paragraph under the sub-heading 'Punjab' the line'...but it could also be interpreted as a plea for a separate Sikh nation' is dropped. Just before this line, the given statement is rewritten as 'The Resolution was a plea for strengthening federalism in India'. In the same section (Sub-heading 'Punjab'), from the last sentence of the fourth paragraph, '... and the creation of Khalistan' is dropped" NCERT said in an official statement. Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury today met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital and extended his support to the Aam Aadmi Party convenor against the Centre's Ordinance on control over administrative services in Delhi. RBI May Reduce Policy Rate In 4th Quarter Of 2024: Report

Global forecasting firm Oxford Economics on Monday said the RBI may cut key benchmark policy rate in the fourth quarter of the current calendar year as a mix of factors will allow the central bank to shift focus and adopt a more accommodative policy stance sooner. It further said inflation has already begun easing, and consumer inflation expectations are falling, so attention has shifted from estimating the peak level of the current hiking cycle to the timing of rate cuts. "We are updating our baseline view for India to include a first rate cut by the RBI in Q4 2023. We think a mix of factors will allow the RBI to shift focus and adopt a more accommodative policy stance sooner," Oxford Economics said. It noted that despite easing price pressures recently, risks to inflation over the remainder of the year are to the upside. Two people were killed when their autorickshaw was hit by a bus that had lost control after being rammed by a truck in the Friends Colony area, police here said on Monday. The accident occurred late on Sunday. The truck rammed into the bus from behind, causing its driver to lose control and hit the autorickshaw, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Kapil Dev Singh said. The victims were identified as Vivek Kumar (43) and Suresh (42). The drivers of both the bus and the truck fled after the accident, the police said. Ukraine Says Russia Carried "Most Important" Drone Attack On Kyiv Since Invasion

Russia carried out the "most important" drone attack on Kyiv overnight Saturday-Sunday since the start of the invasion, military authorities said. 40 of the 54 drones launched targeted the capital, killing two people and wounding three. "In total a record number of explosive drones launched were counted: 54!" Ukraine's air force said in a Telegram post on Sunday. "It's the most important drone attack against the capital since the start of the invasion" in February 2022, the regional military administration said on Telegram.
