He highlighted the "barbaric" war in Ukraine as one of the dominating challenges ahead. "Just as we recovered from an unprecedented

Italy To Test Flyers From China As 50% Of Passengers In Milan Test +ve

Italian health authorities will begin testing all arrivals from China for Covid after almost half of the passengers on two flights to Milan were found to have the virus. They are also sequencing the Milan tests to see if there are new variants, the Health Ministry said in a statement. If a new strain is found, officials may impose stricter curbs on travel from the country.  China has seen outbreaks of the virus since the government there abandoned its strict zero-Covid policies. Uncertainty over the scale of the spread has prompted countries, including the US, to consider new restrictions on entry. Italy's government is set to discuss the Milan passenger numbers at a cabinet meeting later Wednesday, when Health Minister Orazio Schillaci may present information on the tests.  Most of those who tested positive weren't showing symptoms. But local media reported that there's increasing concern among health officials about new Covid variants emerging from China. Italy was t

Rupee Rises 6 Paise To 82.81 Per Dollar As Oil Prices Fall

The rupee gained a touch on Thursday against a steady dollar as oil dipped, driven by a weak demand outlook on China's Covid spike, even as optimism over easing restrictions there turned to caution after a rapid surge in cases. According to Bloomberg, the rupee was last at 82.8050 per dollar, compared to Wednesday's close of 82.8663. In the previous session, the rupee had ended nearly flat buoyed by support from the Reserve Bank of India after it dropped to a one-month low of 82.9225 on Wednesday. The 82.80-82.90 range continued to serve as a significant support area for the currency, as it has over the past two weeks. "The USDINR pair to remain in the range of 82.50 to 83.00 with the RBI protecting the 82.90 level and dollar demand from oil companies weighing on the domestic currency. While quarter-end supplies could bring the pair down a bit, overall global recession concerns continue to hamper any significant recovery in the rupee," said Anil Kumar Bhansali, He

Drowned Indian-American Couple's Minor Daughters To Fly To India: Report

The two minor daughters of an Indian-American couple , who drowned in the US, have been handed over to a family friend and will soon fly to India to their grandparents, a media report said. The girls, aged 7 and 12, were placed under the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety after their father Narayana Muddana (49) and mother, Haritha Muddana, along with their family friend 47-year-old Gokul Mediseti, drowned at the Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County in the US state of Arizona. The Arizona Department of Child Safety had to be called on Monday to come out to Forest Lakes and take custody of the orphaned girls. "You never get used to it. Especially when you're dealing with the children," Jon Paxton with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) was quoted as saying by ABC15.com on Wednesday. "We wanted to make sure they felt as safe as possible. Tried to keep them warm and away from the scene as best we could," he added. However, Kishore P

"BJP, Congress Are Same...": Akhilesh Yadav On Rahul Gandhi's Yatra

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav today distanced himself from Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', diminishing the Congress march's chances of acting as a possible catalyst for Opposition unity. "Our party has a different ideology. The BJP and Congress are the same," the Samajwadi Party chief said while responding to reporters' questions. He was asked if he's been invited for the Yatra, which is currently on a break and resumes with entering UP from Delhi on January 3.  “If you have an invitation on your phone, please, send it to me," he told reporters.  "Our sentiments are with their yatra," he added, "I have received no invitation." This comes even as sources in the Congress had said an invitation was sent not only to Akhilesh Yadav, whose party is biggest Opposition force in UP, but also to BSP leader Mayawati. from NDTV News- Special https://ift.tt/XdOxtAG via IFTTT

Russia Fires Over 120 Missiles On Ukraine From Air, Sea In Massive Attack

A fresh barrage of Russian strikes battered Ukraine on Thursday, wounding at least three people including a teenager in Kyiv and cutting electricity in the west. On Thursday morning, blasts were reported across the vast country including in the Ukrainian capital, the second city Kharkiv in the east and the western city of Lviv on the border with Poland. Most of Lviv, where Russian strikes are still rare, was left without electricity, its mayor Andriy Sadoviy said. "The enemy is attacking Ukraine from various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles from strategic aircraft and ships," Ukraine's air force said on social media, calling the attack "massive." Presidential aide Mykhaylo Podolyak said that more than 120 missiles had been fired. After a series of humiliating battlefield setbacks and lost territory this summer and autumn, Moscow has stepped up its aerial campaign repeatedly targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure with drones and missil

US KFC To Replace Chicken Popcorns With Chicken Nuggets; Internet Reacts

Image
What comes to your mind when we say KFC? The very first reply will be the crispy, spicy fried chicken. While totally agree with the popularity of KFC fried chicken, what grabs the second spot on the menu are the popcorns. These bite-sized delights are crunchy from the outside and juicy inside, making the dish perfect for mid-meal snacking. But the fans in the United States will have to bid adieu to chicken popcorn soon. You heard us. As per the reports doing the rounds, KFC will soon replace chicken popcorn with chicken nuggets in all the outlets across the United States. This change in the menu is expected to roll out by January 2023. Earlier in July 2022, KFC conducted regional testing of their chicken nuggets in the Charlotte, NC area. The outlets then sold "100 percent all-white chicken pieces hand-breaded in KFC's signature Original Recipe of 11 Herbs and Spices," as per the reports in various publications. During the testing, these nuggets were sold in the options

10 Indian Gems That Deserved Wider Play In 2022

For whatever it was worth, 2022 was indisputably the year of RRR . As star-driven Hindi movies struggled to pull in the crowds, monster hits from the south stepped into the breach and made a massive amount of hay. Besides the SS. Rajamouli blockbuster that went on to capture the imagination of the West, KGF: Chapter Two and Kantara raked in big bucks at the expense of a slew of Mumbai movies that sank without a trace. Amidst the brouhaha over the ascendancy of southern cinema and the dwindling fortunes of the Hindi industry, many quieter releases of 2022 did not receive the attention they deserved. That is not to say that these little cinematic gems went entirely unnoticed but, in an ideal world, these works would have been talked up a great deal more. This list is solely of films released theatrically or on streaming platforms during the year gone by. It does not include titles unveiled at festivals. Nor does the list have wonderful films like Pada and Ariyippu because, thanks t

On Camera, UP Jail Warden Beaten Up By Colleagues. Here's Why

A jail warden in Uttar Pradesh was brutally thrashed by his colleagues after an argument over his mess food - which they claimed was affecting their canteen business. All of them are posted at the district jail in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli. The incident was captured by CCTV camera installed outside the jail. The video shows Mukesh Dubey, in-charge of the jail mess, being thrashed by his three colleagues with sticks, while two others watch the clash.  Mr Dubey says "aur maaro" as other jail wardens surround him and flog him with sticks. At one point, he tries to snatch the stick from one of his colleagues - but the three men overpowers him and continue beating him. Soon after the video went viral on social media, the Rae Bareilly police, responding to a Twitter post, said that the five policemen have been suspended and a departmental probe ordered. Mukesh Dubey alleged that an argument broke out between him and his colleagues after they pressured him to degrade the
